Hi everybody! Welcome to my blog! Let me introduce myself. My name is Reilly Briggs, and I’m a Peace Corps Zambia Volunteer in CHEP (Community Health Empowerment Project) 2019. I arrived in Zambia at the end of August, and at the beginning of November, I swore in as a Volunteer and moved to my home for the next two years. I’m living in the Southern Province of Zambia. I’m a recent graduate of Northern Arizona University, where I earned my degree in public health. I’m from Northern California and I miss it very much.
Why did I choose to uproot myself and move to Zambia for the next 2 years, you may ask? Fair question. I’ve had a lifelong call to serve and empower others, and my passion lies within the wide boundaries of public health. Coming here to empower a community to identify health needs and work together to solve them sounded like a dream. On top of that, Peace Corps has been a lifelong dream of mine. While I know that these next two years are going to be challenging, and push me in ways I still don’t know possible, this is my life’s mission; all I want is to serve and empower others.
So this is where I’ll be sharing snippets of my journey! Follow my blog to learn alongside me what Zambia and the Peace Corps will be like! While I strive to be honest, transparent, thoughtful, and meaningful about sharing my experiences and representing this country, this blog in no way is an official representation of the options and thoughts of the Peace Corps or the United States government.
Depending on service and internet availability at my site, I’ll be posting to my Instagram as well, and you can follow me @rei_briggs!
